JULY/AUGUST INSIGHT: The deadline for articles etc for the July/August edition of INSight is Wednesday, 19 June. The magazine will be available on Sunday 30 June. As this will be a double issue, the next edition will not be available until Sunday 1 September. Please send all contributions to or leave in the church office and let me know. BETH’S PARTY!: Beth is having a leaving party from 6 till 8 on Wednesday 26 June for the young people. We will have games, food and hopefully a bouncy castle!

NON-ENGLISH LANGUAGE BIBLE NEEDED: Do you have a Bible or a New Testament in a language other than English you could lend us for H@H next month. We would like to have a display about The Bible Society and its translation work. See Pat Hasell or Ruth Manson.

RUSH KENYA: FRIDAY 28th JUNE AT 2pm: There is an opportunity for you to visit our long term mission partners and now new neighbours - INTERNATIONAL NEEDS UK - who are now well settled just across the road in SELSDON HOUSE. As well as a chance to meet the IN UK team you will also be able to hear from the co-founders of RUSH Kenya, Andrew & Lucy Amukowa, who will share more about the transforming community work they are undertaking in rural KENYA. GARDEN PARTY FOR SENIORS: Seniors are invited to our annual Garden Party on Weds. 26 June or at the church if wet. 2:30pm-5:00pm. This replaces June Tea at Three. All seniors welcome. Pat Contact church office for details 

SCENERY WORKSHOPS FOR HOLIDAY@HOME: will be held on the next 3 Mondays 10, 17, 24 June from 7:00pm - 9:00pm at 103 Croham Valley Road. Refreshments provided. Please bring scissors. Pat Hasell

CROYDON REFUGEE DAY CENTRE: Are struggling for resources and demand is rising. They have totally run out of tinned tuna, tinned tomatoes and tinned fruit; and financial support has also started to drop. Any help in these areas is much appreciated. See letter on noticeboard for more details.

A MESSAGE FROM KEYVAN: Hello everyone. From my heart I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You for all the love, kindness and support you always gave me and when my case came to court. It was wonderful and I never forget it. Also, a big thank you to all those who prayed during that difficult time. Now I feel I can get on with my life and look forward to the future. God bless you. SUNDAY REFRESHMENTS: The tea, coffee and soft drinks we offer people after the service on Sunday mornings is an important ministry and one most of us benefit from. Would you be able to help by offering to wash up? It would be of enormous help in the smooth running of drinks delivery! If you want to be rota’d on please speak to Sheila Thirkell…. Or just roll your sleeves up and give a hand!

ALPHA COURSE: Those who have been involved in Alpha before will remember how good it is to be able to chat with guests over a meal before the discussions. There are still about 6 evening slots to fill for this Autumn. Many thanks to those who have already said they will provide a meal for about 20 people. Whether you are individuals or home groups, please could you contact Pat Hasell or Phil Mazur if you are able to assist. Thank you.  

CATHY MADAVAN WEEKEND: On 14-15 March 2020. Please note this change in the date. The Saturday will be a special day for women (older teens upwards) and Cathy will also be speaking at the Sunday Morning Service. WOMEN ALOUD Cathy Madavan is coming to Waverley Abbey for the day on 9th July and will be talking on ‘Living on Purpose’, The price of our women’s days are £32.50 or the early bird price is £29.25 which expires on 14th May. Lunch is included in the price. The days generally run from 9-4pm but more details on that will come out shortly. If you are interested in attending please speak to Jo Lines

PAPER RECYCLING: If you tend to have room in your recycling bin and would be able to take a sack of paper home on a weekly basis that would be very helpful. Please speak to Ros

VISITORS: If you are visiting or new to SBC, please pass your contact details to one of the stewards or the Ministry team. There are cards in the front of many of the chairs. 

ADVENTURE TOTS:  We would really like to have more volunteers to join our team. If you are able to help put out toys, sit and chat, sit at the welcome table, watch over the activity table, help with preparing drinks and snacks, or help with singing and story time we would love to hear from you. Please pray for us, and for all the toddlers and the grown-ups we are reaching out to. Marilyn and Libby

DIY odd jobs: occasionally some of our older folk need help with relatively simple DIY tasks,that a tradesman wouldn’t want to come out for. If you may be able to help, please let Ruth Manson know and she will call on you as and when needed! Likewise there are some folk who need lifts to Church activities occasionally or to Sunday services. Please let Ruth know if you would be willing to help in this way too.

READING THE BIBLE PASSAGE IN OUR SERVICES: I am always looking for volunteers to read the Bible each week in our services. Please sign up on the sheet if this is something you enjoy or would be happy to do! I let you know the details in advance so that you can familiarise yourself with the verses. Thank you Caroline

Sunday Morning Services

Children and young people usually leave after the first 20 minutes of a Sunday morning service. They go to the following groups:

  • Creché Ages 0-4
  • Scramblers Reception, Years 1 & 2
  • God Squad School years 3 - 6
  • Rock Solid School years 7-9
  • Gravity School years 10-13

We also have: hearing loop, recordings of services (details available from the sound desk at the rear of the church), and coffee and tea served in the foyer.

Our services are sometimes live video streamed on Facebook. If you have any concerns about appearing on this please speak to someone on the sound desk.

First Aiders

A number of folk  have successfully completed the ‘First Aid at Work’ training . You can see them in the photo . Our church First Aid Officer is Brian Sharp (back row, second from the right) , with Mark Ridgway (back row, third from the right) as his deputy. Others who completed the training are: Charis Adu-Kwapong, David Canning, Alison Harrison, Beth Hill, Sally-ann Jackson, Marilyn Newland, Katie Travers and Karl Yabsley.
