GREAT SELSDON LITTER PICK: On June 15 from 10.00 am to midday. Please sign up for this event and join with other churches in Selsdon and Addington in making a difference to our environment and showing our community that we care for God’s world. The more people who sign up, the greater the difference we can make.

SPECIAL WEEKEND! 21-22 March, 2020. We are planning a visit from Cathy Madavan, a well-known and lively Spring Harvest/Care for the Family speaker. ( The Saturday will possibly be a Ladies’ Day and Cathy will also lead our Mothers’ Day Service on the Sunday. Although the date is a long time ahead, please make a diary note now, so you won’t miss out! Meryl

CVM MEN’S EVENT-THE FORGE: New Lodge Farm, Carshalton SM5 4BY on Saturday 14 to Sunday 15 September for Football and other sports, giant inflatables, evening comedian/testimony, live music, Zorbs, hog roast etc. Early bird rate till 31 July of £10. CHEFS REQUIRED: In the Autumn, SBC will be running an Alpha Course on Thursday evenings and needs chefs to prepare meals for around 20 people on the 12 evenings plus 2 Saturdays. 

Please could you let Pat Hasell know if you are able to assist with one or more of these meals. More information available from Phil Mazur. Thank you. 

MAY INSIGHT: The deadline for articles etc for the May edition of INSight was Wednesday 17th April. The magazine is now available. Please send all contributions to or leave in the church office and let me know. Regretfully, late items cannot be included. Thank you. Eleanor.

PRAYER CHAIN: Please send all prayer chain requests to Eleanor Axcell until further notice.

HOST FAMILY WANTED: Is there a family at SBC willing to host a Spanish family for two weeks end June/early July? The request comes from a Spanish teacher who attended SBC for a short while back in 2010 and wants his family to experience the same warm welcome he found with us. Further information from Theresa Nichols.

WOMEN ALOUD Cathy Madavan is coming to Waverley Abbey for the day on 9th July and will be talking on ‘Living on Purpose’, The price of our women’s days are £32.50 or the early bird price is £29.25 which expires on 14th May. Lunch is included in the price. The days generally run from 9-4pm but more details on that will come out shortly. If you are interested in attending please speak to Jo Lines

NOTICES DEADLINE:To ease the pressure on those preparing notice sheets, the deadline for submission of items is 12 NOON on the preceding Thursday. Please make sure that any items you want included are with the office or emailed to by then.

PAPER RECYCLING: If you tend to have room in your recycling bin and would be able to take a sack of paper home on a weekly basis that would be very helpful. Please speak to Ros

VISITORS: If you are visiting or new to SBC, please pass your contact details to one of the stewards or the Ministry team. There are cards in the front of many of the chairs. 

ADVENTURE TOTS:  We would really like to have more volunteers to join our team. If you are able to help put out toys, sit and chat, sit at the welcome table, watch over the activity table, help with preparing drinks and snacks, or help with singing and story time we would love to hear from you. Please pray for us, and for all the toddlers and the grown-ups we are reaching out to. Marilyn and Libby

DIY odd jobs: occasionally some of our older folk need help with relatively simple DIY tasks,that a tradesman wouldn’t want to come out for. If you may be able to help, please let Ruth Manson know and she will call on you as and when needed! Likewise there are some folk who need lifts to Church activities occasionally or to Sunday services. Please let Ruth know if you would be willing to help in this way too.

READING THE BIBLE PASSAGE IN OUR SERVICES: I am always looking for volunteers to read the Bible each week in our services. Please sign up on the sheet if this is something you enjoy or would be happy to do! I let you know the details in advance so that you can familiarise yourself with the verses. Thank you Caroline

Sunday Morning Services

Children and young people usually leave after the first 20 minutes of a Sunday morning service. They go to the following groups:

  • Creché Ages 0-4
  • Scramblers Reception, Years 1 & 2
  • God Squad School years 3 - 6
  • Rock Solid School years 7-9
  • Gravity School years 10-13

We also have: hearing loop, recordings of services (details available from the sound desk at the rear of the church), and coffee and tea served in the foyer.

Our services are sometimes live video streamed on Facebook. If you have any concerns about appearing on this please speak to someone on the sound desk.

First Aiders

A number of folk  have successfully completed the ‘First Aid at Work’ training . You can see them in the photo . Our church First Aid Officer is Brian Sharp (back row, second from the right) , with Mark Ridgway (back row, third from the right) as his deputy. Others who completed the training are: Charis Adu-Kwapong, David Canning, Alison Harrison, Beth Hill, Sally-ann Jackson, Marilyn Newland, Katie Travers and Karl Yabsley.
