1 year of SBC Online
Our first full online service was on Sunday 22nd March 2020 where Denzil preached his sermon on 1 Corinthians 3:10 - 15. We managed to use equipment from the Burns family, as well as endure a bit of a steep learning curve, but we managed to broadcast on both YouTube and Facebook.
We had the previous week live streamed Cathy Madavan’s service on Facebook.
The services to begin with consisted of just the sermon, but as the lockdown continued with no end in sight, it was felt that we needed them to be more like a Sunday service. James McKinlay started to put these services together to begin with and then Adam White worked with James along with the worship team to record the songs each week. Tom Burns continued to produce the SBC News segment. However, worship songs were becoming more and more involved so Tom Burns took on the production of the full service. Since February 2021, the Intro’s , Sermon and Outro’s are now recorded in a studio that has been set up in the Youth Room.
26,012 views in 1 year
5,200 hours watch time
80% UK viewers
20% global viewers
People watch on laptops, phones, tablets, TVs and games consoles.
Most services have over 220+ views but that does not mean that was 1 person. It's just the device that is counted. These services are reaching far more people that we ever could before within the 4 walls of the church sanctuary. People can watch from Uni, from their homes, from their workplaces, whilst on the bus, and well just about anywhere.
As well as the Sunday services, there are also all the midweek videos that the Ministry team and others have worked really hard to think of new ideas, which are included in the total YouTube stats above. As well as YouTube we have had views on Instagram of the midweek videos where they receive around 40 - 50 views and again we have local, national and global viewers ranging from UK, USA, Brazil, Uganda, Israel to Ireland. Finally we started to add our midweek reflections, "Sermon unpackeds", sermons and services as Podcasts. Basically a podcast is just the audio version that you can listen to through a number of podcast providers such as Anchor, Spotify and Overcast. Since we started this back in September 2020 - we have had over 800 plays online, again with a global following in USA (Ohio, Washington, Texas, Arizona, New York and other states), Russia, Indonesia, Ghana, Philippines, Germany, Ukraine, Australia as well as all over the UK. Unfortunately the last couple of episodes of ‘Ask the Ministry team’ podcasts did not get the expected engagement so we have paused those for now.
