International Sunday
18th September 2022
One of the greatest joys we share as a church family at SBC is the incredible diversity of our congregation, a group of around 200 followers of Jesus but one made up of many different nationalities. Each time we gather to worship, we bear witness to the truth Paul writes of in Ephesians 2, that Jesus has broken down barriers between people and created ‘one new humanity.’
Our all-age service on 18 September will be a celebration of this diversity. We’ll take time to thank God the relationships we share with one another in Christ, we’ll hear testimony about how our faith has been shaped by the places we’ve come from, and we’ll pray for those places as well. There are several ways that you can take part in this service:
-
By wearing your national dress to the service.
-
By bringing along any items that remind you of home that could be displayed in the building. The church will be open the day before, from 10am to noon, if you wish to bring items along then.
-
We’ll be sharing a Fellowship Meal after the service. Could you bring along a favourite dish from your national culture?
-
By sharing with us items for praise and prayer? What is the one thing which makes you most proud of your country and what is the thing which causes you to worry about its future and for which you desire prayer? Trevor would love to hear from you about this, as he prepares for this service.
