Ruth Manson – 4 O’clock service.
To put you in the picture…
It was initiated about some years ago soon after Holiday @ Home was establish. It was a further development of our Seniors ministry, encouraging guests from H@H and T@3 to join a regular monthly service at church. Along the way it provided a Christmas Service, Easter, Harvest and Remembrance.
Over the years it has fulfilled this mission to a number of folk linked to us. It has also proved a blessing to older members of the church who, after years of service are now more cut off because of frailty or mobility issues. It means a lot to them to be worshipping in company instead of watching on a screen.
It's a shorter, less crowded, quiet service, more traditional in style and using music that has meant so much to older friends on their christian journey. It is followed by a sit-down afternoon tea which is appreciated not only for the food but also the pleasure of eating in company, meeting friends and enjoying chat and fellowship.
Prayer points
-
Give thanks for the blessing it has brought and pray this will continue.
-
Give thanks for those who make it happen, preachers, technicians, musicians, those who offer lifts and those who make and serve tea.
-
This year’s H@H will end with a 4 o’clock service. Pray that this will encourage more guests to begin to join us.
-
If you feel you’d like to be part of this ministry, you could think about
-
Standing by to offer a lift sometimes
-
Making a cake or a loaf of sandwiches sometimes.
-
Serving tea one month.
-
Think of a friend or neighbour you could invite – an opportunity to introduce someone to Jesus.
And of course, feel free to come and see – it’s open to all!
