Ruth - 4 o’clock service
Prayer points October
1. Give thanks for Songs of Praise in September and Harvest in October taken by Don Axcell which were both appreciated. Pray that the spirit of God is gradually opening minds and hearts to the GOOD NEWS OF THE GOSPEL.
To Give thanks that attendance of H@H and T@3 guests in September and October, though not as many as in August has still been up on the past. Lovely too that some of them brought a friend along.
2. Give thanks for two friends who offered to give lifts for our October Service.
The need for lifts is growing as the dark evenings set in ( tea finishes just before 6 pm) especially after the clocks go back meaning some folk are more anxious about getting home .
We are noticing that even some who are quite mobile on the flat are finding the slopes on the High street and especially the church access whether from the High street or Foxearth feel like mountains!
Please pray for help with this OR maybe think whether you could offer to help with this either regularly or on a rota. ( November Service is 13th ) Contact Ruth Manson or Pat Hasell.
3. Pray for those who now find they are too frail to be sure of coming regularly - for whom this was the only service they could attend in a month. Some of them can’t access the live - stream either. They miss Teaching, Sharing in Worship and Fellowship with their Christian family.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people especially those who belong to the family of believers Galatians 6 v 10.
To put you in the picture if this is your first contact with 4 O’clock services…
It was initiated about some years ago soon after Holiday @ Home was establish. It was a further development of our Seniors ministry, encouraging guests from H@H and T@3 to join a regular monthly service at church. Along the way it provided a Christmas Service, Easter, Harvest and Remembrance.
Over the years it has fulfilled this mission to a number of folk linked to us. It has also proved a blessing to older members of the church who, after years of service are now more cut off because of frailty or mobility issues. It means a lot to them to be worshipping in company instead of watching on a screen.
It's a shorter, less crowded, quiet service, more traditional in style and using music that has meant so much to older friends on their christian journey. It is followed by a sit-down afternoon tea which is appreciated not only for the food but also the pleasure of eating in company, meeting friends and enjoying chat and fellowship.
