So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7

Rooted

We have a new vision for the youth work here at SBC, please pray for the young people to feel rooted in these areas…

Love: We want to share God’s love with the young people of Selsdon Baptist Church and in the local community of Selsdon.

Community: We want to provide a community where all young people are welcome, where they can come to SBC knowing it’s a safe space where they are accepted and cherished.  

Faith: We want young people to understand and apply what they believe to their lives as they grow into mature disciples, so they can become rooted in their faith and their relationship with Christ.  

Self Compassion: We want to develop their self-esteem, by encouraging them to see themselves positively and through the lens of God.

Pizza & Games Evening

We have an evening coming up on Friday 21st October (beginning of half term) where we will be spending time getting to know them, eating round a table together and playing games. Please pray the evening will all go smoothly and young people will be able to use this time to get to know each other and us as a team more.

Youth Alpha

On Wednesday 9th November, we are launching a Youth Alpha course. This will be held here at SBC. Youth Alpha aims to answer some of Faith’s big questions. It is a 9 week course where we will watch videos, have times of discussion and answer questions. On the first week, we will share a meal together to officially launch the group. Please pray that this programme will go well, where young people will feel that they can invite friends and talk openly and honestly about their questions. 

Volunteers

Please do pray for volunteers, that more will come forward so that we can carry out more Youth Ministry in God’s Kingdom. We are so blessed to have some amazing volunteers here at SBC, and without this team, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do! We’d love to grow the team even further so that we can do more.
