Remmy - parent

Liam and I have attended SBC since we moved into Selsdon in November 2014. In September 2018, our family expanded to include Amaya, our eldest daughter, and we were blessed with a second daughter Naala in August 2022.

We have really felt God's love through the support from our church family during our time in Selsdon and even more so during our journey as parents. To this day we remain grateful for the prayers and kind words shared with us when Amaya was born and during the unintended stay in hospital for 12 days.

It meant so much to us to have the church praying and thinking of us, and we felt God’s presence surrounding us in response. This was why we didn’t hesitate in dedicating Amaya at SBC months later, proud to share her with everyone who had prayed over us. We hope to do the same with our youngest soon.

The support from SBC has continued with the availability of the crèche on Sunday mornings. While church members have always been understanding and welcoming of small children during services, having the crèche allowed the opportunity to meet other parents, let the children play and make as much noise as they want. Being able to listen to the service in the background ensured that we were still able to be part of the service in a slightly different way.

Being able to volunteer as a helper in crèche also meant that Liam and I were able to give back to the church family in a small way and allow other parents the opportunity to listen to the sermon without distraction or worry. This is something that we hope to be able to do again with the newest addition as our eldest has now moved into the next group.

We pray that other families with young children and babies are able to enjoy being together in church, and that they are able to make the most of the services as we did. In particular, it would be good to see the crèche continue and we hope others including those who do not have young children are able to help and keep the support going. We believe it is a great opportunity to meet and speak with people you wouldn’t usually get the chance to engage.
