Pat - Thursday Morning group

This group began about 20 years ago and started off as a morning Alpha group.
When the course finished, the group wanted to continue. We did some other courses and then broadened the variety our programme.

For many years we had about 7 members. In the last decade, all sorts of people have come along and
joined us, notably a fairly large group from Cruse (the bereavement group) who then brought other friends along.

We have more than 20 members now, although a typical Thursday attendance varies from 12-18 people.

About a third of our members are from SBC, a few go to other churches and the rest have no church allegiance at all.

It’s a delightful group where everyone shows love and care for one another. We have speakers, Bible
studies, quizzes, discussions on current issues and a prayer time at the end of each session when everyone in the group has the opportunity to request prayer for someone or a situation they care about.

So in a sense, the gospel is drip-fed and we pray for people in our group to come to faith.

Thursday Group introduces folk to other things going on in the church that we can invite them along to, such as 4pm services and Holiday at Home. Some of the group are also here once a month for Contact Coffee Morning, so that’s another place where they get invited to church activities.

We have both men and women in the group and there are no age restrictions.

Please pray:

  1. That more in our group will come to faith
  2. That we will continue to be a loving, caring group
  3. For guidance about what to include when we are planning our sessions
  4. For the health and well-being of our members.
  5. For my co-leaders Jean Turner, Mary Osmond and Helen Whitehead. Mary needs our prayers for serious health concerns and Helen is supporting her husband Keith whose surgery is imminent. Please pray for them both and please pray that Jean and I will be guided as to programme content for the New Year.

John 20: 30, 31
‘Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.’

Please pray that Thursday Morning Group members may come to faith and may have life in his name.

Thank you so much for your prayerful support.
