Hilary Howard - Activities
Romans 12 : 4 - 5 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body and each member belongs to all the others.
The deacons have been looking at the activities SBC has going on. I think it's fair to say we were quite surprised and give thanks for quite how much is happening, but also concerned that there are gaps and vacancies for volunteers for most activities so plenty to prayer over as you look at the attached summary.
1 Corinthians 12:27 - 30
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
If you attend regularly on a Sunday and are not already involved with a group of some sort, we'd love you to join the 'body' of our church and be part of one of the activities you will see on the attached sheet. Some things suit people on a Sunday, others may be more suited to those able to offer time from home in the week.
Giving your time, is a great way to make an offering to the work of Selsdon Baptist Church both for the kingdom of God and the local community, as well as being a great way to get to know our church family.
We have found so far, there are three areas which have come up several times for various groups:
-
Moving chairs in the sanctuary- could you be the able bodied arms and legs we are looking for on a Sunday before or after the service?
-
Making cakes and sandwiches - could yours be some of the hands we are looking for mainly in the week?
-
Giving lifts - could you be one of the able bodied car drivers we need to transport sandwiches to Nightwatch or help older friends get to church on Sundays or week day activities?
And of course, there's a place for us to all to come along each month to the Prayer Space as you have done today.
