Katie – Youth

SBC Youth Vision
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7

1) Rooted – We have a new vision for the youth work here at SBC, please pray for the young people to feel rooted in these areas…
Love: We want to share God’s love with the young people of Selsdon Baptist Church and in the local community of Selsdon.
Community: We want to provide a community where all young people are welcome, where they can come to SBC knowing it’s a safe space where they are accepted and cherished.
Faith: We want young people to understand and apply what they believe to their lives as they grow into mature disciples, so they can become rooted in their faith and their relationship with Christ.
Self Compassion: We want to develop their self-esteem, by encouraging them to see themselves positively and through the lens of God.

Youth Alpha – We are now nearing the end of the Alpha course, so as we begin reflecting on the course as a group, please do continue praying for the young people that have been attending, that they will see Jesus at work in their lives, and that their relationship with Christ will continue to grow.

Rooted (Sunday Mornings) – Each week in Rooted between now and Easter we are looking at John’s Gospel. Please pray the young people of SBC will feel discipled, nurtured and encouraged from each session.

Youth Café – We are excited for Youth Café to begin! It is likely to be starting after February half term. It is going to be on a Thursday after school, between 3:30 and 5:30pm. This is going to be open to all young people (ages 11-18) from SBC and the local community. Please do pray for this new group, that we will see young people coming through the doors of the Church, will be looking
at putting together a team for Youth Café, so if this is something God lays on your heart and you would like to be a part of the team that run this, please do get in contact with me as I’d love to have a conversation with you!

Schools Mentoring – Please do pray for the mentoring sessions on a Thursday morning at Quest Academy (a local Secondary School). I am there on a weekly basis running small group work with some of their students.
