Linda - World

Man-made and natural disasters are continuously in the news.

Give thanks for all humanitarian organisations and the dedicated workers who seek to provide relief, practical help and ongoing support in areas that have been devastated by war, extreme weather caused by climate change, and earthquakes.

  • Continue to pray for Ukraine, now over a year since the invasion by Russia. Pray that the Russian government and the Russian Orthodox Church will recognise the evil of the wanton destruction of lives, homes, communities and land, and for a change of heart away from dreams of conquest towards living inharmony with their neighbours.
  • Pray for peace in Yemen, where civil war continues. Thousands of lives have been lost here too, and millions have been left without access to sufficient food or safe drinking water.
  • Pray for Mozambique, where people have been fleeing their homes to escape violence by armed groups terrorising people in the north of the country.
  • Pray for Kenya, where a drought following years of poor harvests and locust infestation means four million people are going hungry. Pray for God’s provision for those in need, and for wise leadership from new president William Ruto.
  • Pray for Turkey and Syria after the earthquakes that have killed so many people and displaced many more. Pray for the Syrian government to be open to international aid, and that the leaders of these nations may act in the interests of all their people.
  • Continue to pray for Pakistan after last year’s floods. Pray that all whose homes were washed away may be provided with clean water, food and shelter. Pray too that Christians may be protected from persecution and may have courage to bear witness to Christ through service offered to all.

Father God, we cry out to you for mercy for all people suffering as a result of conflict and disaster and look to you in hope for signs of your Kingdom in the midst of such pain.

They will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. (Isaiah 2.4)
