Pat – Holiday at Home
Holiday at Home October 25, 27, 29.
This year’s Holiday at Home, our 17th event, is scheduled to be held in October half-term to avoid building works that might be taking place on SBC premises during the summer.
Holiday at Home aims to provide a virtual holiday for Seniors, so that those who can no longer go away, can get a feel of being on holiday and also enjoy the companionship of others in a cheerful, Christian environment.
This is an event where some folk step over the church threshold for the first time, enabling them to discover the warmth of Christian friendship. This year’s theme is: ‘An African Adventure’. We shall base our activities, entertainment, menu and scenery on this theme.
Please give thanks for the ideas that have already been suggested and also that a good number of volunteers have already offered to assist.
Please pray for our meeting on 23 March that God will inspire and guide us further, particularly regarding:
-
the nature of our weekday entertainments and activities,
-
the content of our ‘Thoughts for the day’
-
the Sunday afternoon session which will culminate in a 4pm style service and tea.
Sunday afternoon will be a free event to which guests can invite family and friends. Last year about 70 people came to the Finale, greatly exceeding our expectations.
We shall update you later in the year, but if you could be praying for all our preparations in the meantime, we would be extremely grateful.
‘The Lord is close to everyone who calls out to him, to all who call out to him
sincerely. God shows favour to those who honour him, listening to their cries
for help and saving them.’
