Emergency Meals Service
It is some time since we publicised this service, so please read on if you are fairly new to SBC, because you might stand to benefit, or you may be able to help.
The service supplies one cooked meal a day for one or more days a week for a limited period to people in need.
Who qualifies for help?
Anyone from our church who is:
-
busy caring for someone
-
spending a lot of time with hospital appointments or visits
-
just back from a spell in hospital
-
under pressure in some other way.
One way or another, with everything else going on, it is a struggle to find the time to prepare adequate cooked meals.
How can I help or benefit?
-
Let me know that you wish to join the list of people willing to cook and deliver
-
Let me or Ruth Manson, our Pastoral Care Coordinator, know if you or someone else from SBC needs this kind of help.
What is involved in helping?
Signing up is not a commitment. It simply means that your name will be added to an email contact list, so that you can be made aware of any need. Only if you can help do you need to respond, saying what you can provide and on which day you can deliver it. The more people who volunteer, the more the load will be shared. A lot of the time all has been quiet, and the highest demand has never exceeded two households at any one time. For more information, or to get involved, please speak to me at church or contact me
