Hello church!

Very recently, Kathryn and I went on a training day called ‘Multiply’ in London, held at Westminster Chapel. The training had a particular focus on ‘The Younger Church’ and how we can feel equipped to grow this in new and exciting ways! It was a really fantastic day, which was full of worship, networking and a number of workshops and seminars. I personally really love days like this as it’s such an amazing opportunity to meet with others who share the same vision, of seeing young people discipled within the church, and how they are such a huge part of the church in the future. I left the day feeling so inspired and refreshed!

In Rooted, we have recently started a new series that will take us up until the end of July, looking at understanding our emotions, focusing on the Psalms and thinking about how God comes into this – how he wants to help us manage some of the more difficult emotions such as anxiety and fear, anger and shame.

Our ALIVE group has now finished, and it went really well! The five-week programme was a brilliant course, which encouraged the young people to ask questions, have really valuable discussions and time of prayer and reflection. We will be re-launching a new group called LIFE – Youth @ 7! which, long term, will then become a youth discipleship group that meets every other Thursday evening during term time. We spent time with the young people asking what sort of things they would like to earn and discuss, and they were really keen to dive deeper into the Bible, looking at different books and thinking about what it teaches us, and all that the Bible is for us as Christians. This will then continue in September after the summer holidays.

In these next few weeks, there is a lot happening for SBC youth here at the church and in the community too! As I write this article, we are hosting a football event encouraging them to invite their friends to come and watch England play in the Euros, and at the beginning of August, we are off to Satellites which is super exciting! Satellites is a five-day Christian festival, that is run by Youthscape, in Somerset. We are taking a small group of young people (from SBC and St Francis). Please do pray for the young people and us as a team as we head off on Friday 2 August!

Thank you all so much for your continued support and prayers for all things youth ministry. I hope you all have a wonderful summer, and I look forward to updating you on all that’s happened in the summer in September!

God bless you all. Katie
