Hello church
What a summer we’ve had, and there is lots to update you on for all that’s happened, and what’s to come in September too!
We had an amazing time at Satellites youth camp at the beginning of August. We took a group of six young people camping to Shepton Mallet for five days. There were over 3,000 others there with their youth groups, so it was an incredible atmosphere in the main sessions worshipping God all together. The teaching was also brilliant. The theme this year was on prayer – and there were a number of opportunities for young people to respond to what had been said, so it was really special to have this time to pray as a group, and for those who were encountering Jesus, perhaps for the first time!
The sun shone for us every day, and there were all sorts of activities and facilities young people could use around the site, as well as a whole variety of workshops and seminars. As we were a smaller group this year, it was really special to spend more time with the young people and get to know them more, and for them to get to know us more too!
Kathryn and I took a group of five young people to Littlehampton for the day, which was a really great day! The weather was perfect, and the young people really enjoyed themselves too, especially on the rides in the park, going in the sea and kite flying on the beach.
As September is fast approaching, plans for the youth programme are well underway! We are excited to be launching two new youth groups, one on a Tuesday after school, which will be a youth drop in open for the community, and the other which will run every other week on a Thursday evening, and this will be a discipleship group where we will run courses and do Bible studies.
In Rooted, from September we will be starting a new series on ‘Being a Christian in…’ for example, in school, in a world of digital media, in sport etc. The hope and prayer for these few weeks will be to encourage the young people at the start of a new academic year and to help them grow in their confidence of their faith.
Thank you all so much for your continued prayers and support. Please do keep the young people in your prayers as they start a new academic year, and for those off to university too! God bless you all. Katie
