Hello church

We have had a great start to September…and there are lots of exciting things coming up that I’m looking forward to sharing with you!

We have now officially started our LIFE youth group, which is the new youth house group which takes place at SBC every other Thursday evening. We had a great start to this group, where we spent time doing quizzes, sharing stories and reading the Bible, particularly thinking about where they felt they were at with God and what they’d like to do in order to grow in their faith journey.

On Tuesday 1 October, we will be launching our Youth Drop In, which is open for the community. This will run every Tuesday after school between 3.30 and 5:30pm. This is an opportunity for young people to drop by on their way home from school, to come and chill out, play games, do homework and just enjoy being together! We will be doing some hot chocolate stands on the high street to advertise this new group too. I am still in need of a team to help me run this new group, so if you are free between 3 and 6pm on a Tuesday (during term time only), please do let me know – I’d love to hear from you!

I have started the mentoring sessions back up at Quest Academy on Thursday mornings. I am continuing to work with a couple of students, on a one-to-one basis. The first couple of sessions I use to catch up with them, play a couple of icebreaker games so that I can get to know them, and vice versa.

I also had a really encouraging meeting with a member of staff at Tenison’s, and I will be continuing to run the Year 9 assembly every other week, on a Friday morning. There is also some opportunity to run some lessons within the next year too, so it’s really exciting to see other doors being opened up, so that we as a church can continue to serve and create a good relationship with them as a school.

As always, thank you so much for your continued support and prayers for all things youth ministry! Please do keep those who will be starting university in the coming days and weeks in your prayers, that they will settle in well, and may know God going with them on their journey ahead!

God bless you all.
