Children and Families

Hello everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve been school based, but this time I’ve been very confused by the October half term. It seems that some schools have two weeks and others are taking either one of the two weeks on offer. There are fewer volunteers now, so please pray for us to look for new ways to run these groups.

Adventure Tots
This runs on Wednesday mornings from 10–11.30am, in the sanctuary. We begin to set up around 8.30am preparing crafts, refreshments and filling the hall with plenty of toys. By 9.30 we aim to share a morning reflection and pray for our visitors. By 10am there is a trail of buggies along the path, and all are welcomed in. We love to finish with songs, a very simple story and an interactive prayer.

Saturday Family Time
This is held in the church sanctuary. We will be holding our final session of 2024 in November, which will include the opportunity to have some Christmas photos taken. If you are available to make refreshments or welcome families, please let me know.

Sunday Refresh 4–5.30pm
Refresh runs in the upstairs main hall, and we were encouraged by the offers of help to make a Sunday tea and welcome. Tanya Davies organised an impressive Lego activity which was really enjoyed by both parents and children. If you have an interest that we could share on any of the dates, please let me know. This could be a craft or any interest that all ages could participate in.

Sunday Club Being ‘family together’ with our Harvest service was wonderful. Although it’s a different type of service, there’s something very valuable in learning from each other and getting to know our church family, even though it means adjusting from the norm. If you missed making the fabulous windmills and would like to have a go, do let me know and I can send you the instructions.

After half term I have decided to cancel ‘Music & Rhymes’, as the timing wasn’t proving popular. I will reflect on changing to a different time from January if the timetable allows.

Now the new children have settled into Preschool I hope to pay a few visits with some stories and songs, and I will be organising a Parents and Carers breakfast on Tuesday 19 November.

Christmas plans are now well underway, and I am looking forward to taking another assembly and helping to support our activities in December. God bless.
