Children and Families

Hello everyone

I’ve just been gathering all our Christmas resources from near and far and there is a huge mound of sheep, nativity characters and tinsel steadily growing outside our office. The sheep remind me of our Christmas nativity, and I wonder do you know any jokes about sheep? Here’s mine:

‘What do muddy sheep do?.........take a baaath!!’

Maybe you could find some better ones for our SBC nativity on 22 December. We’d love you to join us, in costume if you’d like, or just sit and ponder as we go back to Bethlehem and recreate that wonderful story.

Adventure Tots
We are telling the birth of Jesus in stages over a few weeks. Our noticeboard will hopefully build the picture each session and of course we’ll include lots of simple festive songs. Father Christmas will visit on our final week, and we’ll end with a celebration. Do pray for our carers, grandparents and parents that they will be encouraged by conversation and take the opportunity to attend some of our other Christmas events.

Saturday Family Time
Our final ‘drop in’ was busy with young families. Some had a Christmas photo taken and others enjoyed the space to play and do crafts. We thank God for those families, and I hope to be holding some more events in 2025.

Sunday Refresh 4-5.30pm
These are running in the upstairs hall. We are including a short Bible reflection for all ages. Our final theme will be ‘preparing for Christmas’ and three more dates are now in the calendar for 2025. Our team has been brilliant and if you have a talent for craft, family games or sharing a short reflection do join us; it’s wonderful to be together sharing God’s love.

I'm grateful to those who have supported our family events and to our Sunday Club leaders who plan for our children every week. Please keep them in your prayers. Returning once again, to the shepherds who you can read about in Luke 2:15–20. What did they do, stand around in the fields? No, they hurried, maybe even ran to Bethlehem. The shepherds were full of joy, they had great news to share. My prayer is that we will be sharing this wonderful news this December: ‘Good News everyone, Jesus is born!’ God bless Hilary
