Hello church...
I can’t believe it’s that time of year again where we’re busy thinking all things Christmas… it’s come around so quickly!
God has been so on the move within the youth ministry here at SBC…starting with giving you an update on Youth Alpha. This course has been going so well, with anywhere between five and seven young people attending each week. A couple of the youth have been bringing a friend too, so it’s been wonderful to get to know new young people! We have had some amazing conversations, involving answering big questions and sharing our own views and thoughts on the theme of that particular week. As I write this article, there is just one session left! We will continue with Thursday nights as the youth group night, just starting a new course. Between now and Christmas, we will have a couple of social events (including an SBC youth Christmas party, and an ice-skating trip!) and we will start a new series in January.
Rooted on a Sunday has been going well, as we have now split into two age groups. We’ve had 3–4 youth in each age group most weeks, so it has definitely been worthwhile splitting them. We have been and continue to follow the same series as the church.
Our work in Tenison’s continues to go really well, with running the Year 10 assembly every other week. Recently, I have delivered assemblies on dealing with anger, growing and being responsible for yourself.
As I write this article, Kathryn and I have just returned from the National Youth Ministry Conference in Birmingham. This was an AMAZING two days full of brilliant teaching, worship, networking with others and the opportunity to receive such wonderful spiritual feeding. It was really inspiring to speak with so many other youth leaders, where we’re able to share ideas, to pray and support each other. This was a really special part of the weekend!
We have recently come up with a new SBC Youth verse of the year! (which we do every September) – and this year we’ve gone with Isaiah 41:10, ‘Do not be afraid – I am with you! I am your God – let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you.’ (GNT)
Thank you all so much for your continued support, whether that’s through giving, supporting by volunteering or praying – none of it goes unnoticed and we’re so grateful! Please do continue to keep our young people in your prayers.
God bless
Katie
