Hello church...

I can’t believe we’re in the middle of March already, time has been whizzing by!

A few things to update you all on…

LIFE youth group has been going really well recently. Some of them bring their friends along, and we usually have anywhere between four and eight young people coming along. They love to do a game at the beginning of the session, so this often brings lots of energy and gets the group working together really well. We’ll be starting a new series after the Easter break.

As you all may know by now, I’ll be heading on maternity leave at the end of May. Laura Haghparast and Margaret Bally have kindly offered to run a youth group on a Friday night (replacing LIFE youth group on a Thursday) while I am off. This will run at the same timings, from 7–8:30pm and it’ll be starting on 5 June (not on during July and August), with an official start in September!

During the Easter holidays, we’re planning to run a social event for the young people so keep your eyes peeled for what’s to come!

Rooted continues to go well on a Sunday morning. Numbers vary week by week, but it’s been really great to spend time unpacking Luke’s Gospel, looking at Jesus’ encounters, which the young people have been engaging with really well!

I have continued going into Tenison’s every other week for the year 10 school assembly. As I mentioned in my previous article, I have also started doing some short-term mentoring with a student which has been going really well too! Thinking ahead a little to beyond the Easter holidays, a number of our young people from SBC will be heading into exam season – both GCSEs and A-Levels. Please do keep these young people in your prayers as they prepare, and go about doing the exams themselves, that they may know God’s peace and presence with them as they enter into this time.

Thank you all so much for your continued support and prayers… they never go unnoticed!

May God bless you all Katie Canning
