Easter 2026

Easter 2026There were various opportunities over the Easter celebration to gather together to remember the events that led to the Crucifixion and then to the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus.

We met in the church for a short time of reflection for the four evenings preceding Good Friday, culminating in sharing communion on the Thursday evening. Good Friday saw us gathering with friends from Churches Together in Selsdon and Addington at St John’s to sing, listen to scripture and pray, all being led by representatives of the different churches. Trevor interviewed Rev Deborah Foreman who was retiring from her role as Vicar of St Mary’s, Addington after ten years’ service, and the closing message was given by Pastor Neil Richardson, Croydon Jubilee Church.

We then joined in a Walk of Witness from St John’s following a large cross, carried by Dave Canning, and the beat of the drum by Peter Wyatt from St Francis, to SBC where coffee and hot cross buns awaited us.

On Easter Sunday Kathryn led an early Communion service, followed by breakfast for those who wished to stay, and a full church celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus at the morning service. Towards the end of the service, the congregation was asked the following question:
